Partner Search for my Living and Non-living things project

Welcome fellow teachers,

Today I am so excited because I am going to share with you an awesome news! After I created and advertised my own eProject "Living and non-living things", I thought that in order to take a step forward would be useful to find a partner that would support me and with whose collaboration I could bring forth my project. It was hard to find a project in which my own project would fit! However, here is my good news! I found a project that I really love and inspired me so much while I looked through it! The partner I want to share my project with is a collaborative project called The 30 Goals Challenge

According to it, teachers should innovate the way they are teaching by following simple steps that will transform your teaching! The best thing is that you can contribute with your own goal and then submit it on their page. On the right, you can find some of the goals that teachers gathered two years ago, which I retrieved from the official page of The Teacher Reboot Camp.

The founder of the project I want to collaborate with is Shelly Sanchez Terrell. I believe my eProject fits into this collaborative project as it encourages children to learn in different ways and it empowers and challenges teachers to use different teaching strategies and resources in order to teach. Furthermore, through the different missions of my project, teachers will be able to meet the goals that they have established for themselves and for the class, as the activities can be adapted for different grades and can be used as an example for future missions of any other subject. My project can also give ideas for new badges, as after accomplishing different missions, not only children can be given awesome badges, but teachers can reward themselves with different badges for accomplishing their goals! Some examples of badges can be found on the website of "The 30 Goals Challenge" project!

Moreover, my project is based on the premise that children learn by doing and while overcoming challenges they will develop their ICT, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, along with their creative abilities, and content and English knowledge. Growing a plant can be a simple task for a person but for first grade of Primary education, it is a real mission!
Following you can see a diagram in which I will show you my goals as a teacher when developing this eProject!

Moving on, we cannot forget that when someone wants to collaborate with a company, for instance, it is important for that person to know how to sell its product or idea. In my case, I want to share and collaborate with this project so in order to do this I need to advertise it using other tools than just diagrams and flyers. Nowadays, it is very important to be quick and practical when advertising something, as people may not have the time or patience for a long introduction of our idea or projects. This is why we have to value the importance of going right to the point, and for this, I have prepared an elevator pitch!
Now, before I show you my elevator pitch, I want to explain briefly how to create your own elevator pitch.
How to create an Elevator Pitch by Re8eca M.

As you have seen, an elevator pitch has to be very short, no more than 1 min, it has to be simple but powerful, so it can capture the attention of the person you are trying to convince. Below, I will leave you the elevator pitch I created to advertise my own project! Hope you enjoy it!

The process of analysis

  • In the first place, before doing my elevator speech, I had to find out which project would be most appropriate for me to collaborate with. I had to do a lot of research reading through the official blogs of  many projects. Then, after reading them all, it didn't take long for me to realize that the one I want to collaborate witht is The 30 Goals challenge!
  • After having decided the project I wanted to collaborate with, I created a small speech of only 28 seconds, in which I talked about what my project offers and how much I would like to collaborate with them.
  • The next step I took, was to actually record the video, which took me a fair amount of time to pull off. I took the video using an iPhone 6, and I edited it using Youtube editor. The intro beginning and the ending of the video was created using Powtoon.
  • After creating my elevator pitch, I thought that it would be great to make the blog more visual. For this, I used Canva in order to explain what are the elements that should be considered when creating an elevator pitch.
  • I almost finished writing on my blog, when I realized that I was not very specific about my goals as a teacher, and this is a very important aspect to develop, as the project I want to collaborate with stresses the importance of creating goals in order to improve teaching. This is why, I used Easel.ly to create a simple diagram about what my goals as a teacher are in regard with the project I developed.

Self-reflection

As I was reading through The 30 Goals Challenge website, I realized how important it is for teachers to cooperate with each other, sharing their goals, their thought, their struggles, and experiences! You cannot believe how much a person can grow from reading and from hearing other people talk about their experiences and ideas for a better education. We are all teachers, but we can never forget that we are forever learners! We will keep learning throughout our lives from everyone: other teachers, students, people we barely know and people we've known for a lifetime. I really enjoyed creating this post, because I was able to understand the importance of being part of a community of teachers that want to work hard and struggle for a more enjoyable and effective education! Every little step we take as teachers to make a change in education will definitely pay off in the near future, as the next generation of educators and teachers will learn from our mistakes and from the ideas that we shared openly with each other! It is impressive to see how teachers all over the world, from different countries, shared their opinion and goals in order to improve our teaching.

While I was going through the different collaborative projects, I could see how enriching can be for a teacher knowing and learning how to use the resources that the internet provides us! We are able to connect with other teachers and learn from them while sharing our own projects. What can be better than collaborating with each other? It is so great to be able to open up to the world and connect with other teachers and other people having one purpose in mind: enriching and improving our educational system by taking simple but confident steps.

I can't put into words how much I recommend you guys to share your ideas and experiences and projects with other people so everyone can learn from them! We have great ideas and together we can do great things for a better education, and it all starts with our way of teaching! I dare you to take a look at other teacher's project and try and collaborate with them, sharing your own!
If you do so, share and comment your experience below!
